For some people landscape drawing can be an overwhelming. There is so much STUFF to be accounted for. Here is a method for achieving a landscape but limiting what needs to be included. This is also a different way of looking at the world.
A normal piece of drawing paper usually has proportions close to 3:4 units. Try drawing a rectangle in the middle of the paper which is the proportions of 1:4 or even 1:5 units. You can then chose whether you use the thin rectangle in landscape or portrait orientation.
In the resulting frame you can concentrate on only a thin slice of the landscape which helps to overcome the need to include all of that STUFF that is terrifying you. This frame can also be used to draw or paint a narrow slice of any subject, for example try a slice of a portrait or of a still life for an unusual composition.
