A blog is an online journal where you can put your work onto the internet. You can upload scans or digital photos of the drawings you are making. It's a great way to record your progress and share it with other members of the group. (Many EDM members put their blog address right into the signatures of their email so every post they make includes a link to their journal).
There are many ways to get blogs, most of them free.
The most popular is probably Blogger. You can sign up for their easy-to-publish sites here. They're customizable to a point and great starting point.
Here are some EDM folks' blog on blogger:
You can get a blog on Yahoo 360 that is fairly integrated into this group.
Also MySpace where the young 'uns (and Danny) hang out.
Another option is LiveJournal. A little more community oriented, you can sign up for an account here.
Here are some EDMers on LiveJournal to check out:
Another option is WordPress. It's also free at wordpress.com
Other options include having blog software installed on your personal site. This gives you more control and a little more complexity. DannyGregory.com is built on Moveable Type. It took a little fiddling to install but it gives me complete control of the look and feel of my site.
Other nice examples of Moveable Type in action:
Of course, some people prefer to just have websites withe their work displayed.
- Richard Bell posts individual journal pages
- while Roz has a series of galleries.
